client_interviewing

This year, the Client Interviewing Competition is sponsored by Clayton Utz.

This competition provides an excellent opportunity for students to develop the skills they need to successfully analyse the needs of their clients and give appropriate advice.

Teams are made up of two people. The competition simulates an initial consultation between a prospective client and solicitors. There isn't much preparation involved, as there is nothing you can do to prepare for the interview, except have a general knowledge of the law. The purpose of the meeting is to elicit all the relevant facts and circumstances of your client's predicament before giving basic legal advice. It is really a matter of listening carefully and asking the right questions. The competition is open to all year levels.

BEFORE SIGNING ON, PLEASE NOTE:

This year, there will be a limit placed on the number of teams able to compete. This is due to resource constraints and to ensure the quality of competition and judging. We will be allowing the first thirty (30) teams to sign up. Please note that if you do sign on and you drop out after the sign on close date, you will be banned from all future competitions for 2010.
