Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL)

As usual, PAL was run for Torts A in Semester 1.  Turnout has been fantastic with many first years attending, especially the exam sessions held in Week 11.  In addition to Torts A, sessions have been run for Contracts A.  We’re hoping for bumper attendance for these sessions in Week 12 as the Contracts final exam rapidly approaches.

PAL Sessions are a great opportunity for students to brush up on their exam skills.  Sessions are run by experienced older year students who have done well in those particular subjects.

Valedictorian Semester 1

Applications are flowing in for Valedictorian for Semester 1 2012.  Any students who are on track for or have a GPA of 6 or above and who have strong extracurricular and community achievements are encouraged to apply for what is a prestigious honour.

Interim Education Survey

In addition to the regular Education Survey in Semester 2, the Education Team will be running an interim Education Survey to gauge issues of concern to law students.  The results of this survey will be used to direct the questions posed in the regular Education Survey in Semester 2, with the hope of creating a more in-depth and specific set of questions on particular issues regarding law at TC Beirne.

Sir Harry Gibbs Public Lecture

Thought the Education Team wasn’t doing enough?  HA!  For the first time, the Education Team will be organising the Sir Harry Gibbs Public Lecture early in Semester 2.  Our inaugural guest will be US Ambassador to Australia Jeffrey Bleich, a former lawyer and personal friend of President Barack Obama.  The Lecture will be run in around Week 4 of Semester 2 – you’ll definitely be hearing more about this in the coming weeks!

Allens Notepool has been updated with notes from certain elective subjects as well as the regular core subjects.  If you’ve got notes you want to share or you know someone who has great notes, get in touch with us at education[at]uqls.com
